The work of the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on the issues of the Caspian Sea was discussed in the MFA of Turkmenistan

On February 23, 2025, the 63rd meeting of Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on the issues of the Caspian Sea was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by the relevant Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Director of the Caspian Sea Institute, heads of a number of ministries and specialized agencies of the country.

During the meeting, the significance and timeliness of the meetings on the Caspian Sea matters was noted, which is envisioned by the Concept of Turkmenistan’s activities and priorities within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The information on the results of the work of the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on the issues of the Caspian Sea in 2024 was heard at the meeting.

Special emphasis was placed on the work on the implementation of the “Caspian Environmental Initiative” put forward by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the plenary meeting of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The participants of the meeting noted that during many years Turkmenistan has been taking a proactive position on adopting balanced solutions on the Caspian Sea issues and has played an important role in the development of the legal framework for cooperation in the Caspian Sea. This process continues in cooperation with all Caspian littoral countries within the framework of international law.

In addition, the Plan of Activities of the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on the issues of the Caspian Sea for 2025 was considered at the meeting.
