THE TURKMEN-RUSSIAN HIGH-LEVEL GROUP ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT SUPPORT STARTED ITS WORK IN ASHGABAT

On March 5, 2018, the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Support, operating under the aegis of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation, began its work in Ashgabat. The delegation of the Russian side included heads of state structures, major enterprises and companies engaged in various industries, as well as members of the High-Level Group on Trade and Investment Support.

The main goal of the two-day meeting, organized in accordance with the agreements reached at the governmental level, is the identification of new vectors for productive interaction between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, expansion of bilateral contacts between business structures. The joint work carried out within the High-level Group on Trade and Investment Support facilitates the practical implementation of the agreements reached by the parties and the development of new mechanisms for diversifying the partnership.

The productive cooperation of Turkmenistan with the regions of the Russian Federation - the Republic of Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, the Astrakhan and Sverdlovsk regions and other entities is evidence of a fruitful partnership. In this regard, it is necessary to note the contribution of the leading Russian companies - Vozrozhdenie, KAMAZ, Zarubezhneft and Siberia Airlines - to the implementation of Turkmenistan's national programs for the development of the industrial sector, construction and transport.

Currently, work is underway to implement the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Economic Cooperation Program for 2017-2019, which includes 80 different events and projects in the fields of trade, industry, energy, engineering, construction, agriculture, transport, etc. Successful solution of the tasks, designated in this document, is intended to expand the structure of export-import exchanges. The activities of the Russian Export Center are also aimed at promoting joint foreign economic programs.

During the bilateral meetings of representatives of state structures, private companies of Turkmenistan and Russia held today, the mutual striving to intensify business ties was confirmed. Expressing their readiness to actively participate in the implementation of large-scale national projects, businessmen from a friendly country expressed specific proposals for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
