State visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan has been started

High-level negotiations took place between Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Yoon Suk Yeol.

At the International Airport of the Turkmen capital, where the National Flags of the two countries were raised on flagpoles and a guard of honor was formed, the head of the friendly country was met by Turkmen officials.

According to the established good tradition of hospitality, the distinguished guest was presented with bread and salt and flowers. From the airport, President Yoon Suk Yeol proceeded to the residence allocated for the duration of the visit, located in the fashionable capital hotel “Oguzkent”.

Building effective relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including the Republic of Korea, which occupies a leading position among the developed countries of the world, is one of the key aspects of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan. The main factor in strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Korea is the open and fruitful dialogue established between our countries. Thus, for many years, under the leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Hero-Arkadag, large-scale work has been carried out to expand productive interstate relations with the Republic of Korea in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural spheres and through parliaments.

In the current era, bilateral partnerships are actively developing in a wide range of areas. Vivid examples of this are the solid legal framework of Turkmen-Korean relations, which includes more than 100 interstate, intergovernmental and intersectoral documents, as well as large-scale joint projects successfully implemented and planned for implementation, active activities in our country of the largest Korean companies in various fields, primarily in the oil and gas complex and the chemical industry.

A great impetus to strengthening political relations was given by the negotiations held in New York in September 2023 between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

A significant role in the development of bilateral partnerships is given to interparliamentary and intergovernmental meetings, multilateral interaction within the framework of the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Forum.

Economic relations between our countries are characterized not only by positive dynamics, but also by a long-term nature. This most clearly reflects the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, the 9th meeting of which was held via videoconferencing on June 3 of this year.

The current state visit of President Yoon Suk Yeol to Turkmenistan is considered an important step towards expanding interstate relations, which have acquired a new quality and content in recent years. Implementing radical reforms aimed at completely modernizing the national economy, forming a powerful industrial infrastructure, and improving the social sphere, our country is relying on the active implementation of innovations, advanced technologies and the best foreign experience. In this regard, to strengthen effective Turkmen-Korean cooperation, built on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, ample opportunities are opening up, which the parties strive to implement with optimal impact.
