Current areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO were discussed

On October 12, 2024, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Chairperson of the UNESCO General Conference Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties noted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO.

The importance of cultural and humanitarian events held in Turkmenistan was noted, in particular the high-level holding of the International Forum "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Peace and Development" in Ashgabat the day before.

In this regard, the importance of including the national nomination "The Art of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding and Horse Decoration Traditions" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was also emphasized. The ceremony of presenting the corresponding certificate was held in the city of Arkadag.

The parties also considered the possibility of expanding cooperation in the field of archiving, digitalization, science and education.
