A video conference meeting was held with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources

On November 7, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a videoconference meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the constructive nature of relations between the countries, especially in such areas as trade and economy, energy, transport, logistics and others.

The American side highly appreciated the progress made by Turkmenistan in fulfilling international commitments on climate change since the country joined the Global Methane Commitment. Geoffrey Pyatt also noted the successful cooperation of Turkmenistan with the American companies Tetrotech and Deloitte in implementing climate initiatives and projects.

In addition, the parties discussed key issues on the agenda of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), which will be held in Baku.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation in combating climate change and in other areas of mutual interest.
