Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took part in the fourth meeting of the Central Asia – India Dialogue

On June 6, 2025, as part of his visit to the Republic of India, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov participated in the fourth meeting of the Central Asia – India Dialogue.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed promising areas of multilateral cooperation and issues of increasing the efficiency of economic interaction, including in mutual trade, investment activities, industry and strengthening transport connectivity with India.

It was noted that diplomatic interaction within the framework of this multilateral cooperation mechanism is aimed at promoting the culture of interstate dialogue and strengthening mutually beneficial partnership on issues of the global and regional agenda.

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan emphasized that Turkmenistan is actively promoting trade, economic and investment integration, initiating large infrastructure and logistics projects. In this regard, special attention was paid to the relevance of the economic projects currently being implemented to strengthen the interconnectedness between the Central Asian region and India, among which a special place is occupied by the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

In addition, the issue of developing the transport and transit potential of the Central Asian countries and India was considered, including the promotion of joint initiatives to create regional and international transport corridors.

Touching upon the topic of regional security, it was noted that the neutral status of Turkmenistan is an effective tool for peacekeeping, strengthening security and stability in the regional and global dimensions.

In the context of expanding cooperation in the areas of innovative technologies, digitalization, biotechnology and nanotechnology, it was proposed to study the possibility of creating a Joint Program for Technological and Scientific Cooperation between Central Asia and India with an emphasis on educational exchanges, joint research, support for start-ups and the introduction of innovations in production.

The importance of cooperation in the areas of healthcare, pharmaceuticals and scientific research was especially emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that in the current global conditions, the unification of the political and diplomatic potential of the Central Asian countries and India, as well as joint opportunities, contributes to the solution of global and regional problems and can become a positive factor in ensuring long-term political stability, economic sustainability and maintaining a balanced approach to common interests.
