Meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation

On 27 September 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations dedicated to Turkmenistan’s Independence Day.

Before the start of the meeting, Hero-Arkadag and the Head of Tatarstan posed for a photograph against the background of the State flags of the two countries.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, the guest congratulated the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty on the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The Head of Tatarstan conveyed heartfelt greetings to Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin.

Warmly welcoming Rustam Minnikhanov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people congratulated him on his victory in the elections as Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. It was noted that the first country Mr. Minnikhanov visited following his election was fraternal Turkmenistan, which testifies to the high level of bilateral relations.

Addressing the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Hero-Arkadag also conveyed his greetings and best wishes to the leadership of the Russian Federation.

Hero-Arkadag recalled with warmth Mr. Minnikhanov’s visit to Turkmenistan in August of this year, underscoring the dynamic and effective nature of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan within the framework of the interstate dialogue with the Russian Federation.

The parties also discussed the development of economic relations. In this context, the important role of the Joint Turkmen–Tatarstan Working Group on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation was emphasized.

Special attention was also given to strengthening and expanding humanitarian ties, including in the scientific and educational spheres. Scholars, educators, cultural figures, and delegations from both sides actively participate in major international events held in Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.

The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan highlighted the efforts of the President of Turkmenistan in developing friendly relations between the two peoples.

Hero-Arkadag expressed confidence that Rustam Minnikhanov’s current visit would give fresh impetus to the further development of Turkmen–Tatarstan cooperation and to the strengthening of friendship between the two brotherly peoples.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnikhanov, exchanged best wishes.
