Deputy Mayor of Ashgabat took part in the 1st Global City Tourism Summit, held in Busan, the Republic of Korea

The 1st Global City Tourism Summit was held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from October 27 to 29, 2025, with participation of over 1,200 delegates representing 22 cities across 13 countries. The high ranking officials from the Busan Metropolitan Government, as well as representatives of Korean and international tourism organizations took part at the event to discuss potential future cooperation in the field of tourism and intercity relations and activities.

To attend this event, an official delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by Mr. Yazgeldi Bekmyradov, the Deputy Mayor of Ashgabat, visited Busan, participating in official events of the 1st Global City Tourism Summit.

The aforementioned summit included high-level forums such as a Mayors’ Roundtable, city presentations, and thematic sessions on sustainable tourism, digital innovation and cultural exchanges.

The visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Ashgabat City Municipality followed by the establishment of direct passenger flights between Ashgabat International Airport and Incheon International Airport on July 14, 2025, which has significantly improved connectivity between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea and facilitated more direct exchanges in the field of tourism, business and culture.
