Opportunities for Developing Relations with the Republic of Serbia Discussed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On 11 December 2025, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmet Gurbanov and the Minister of International Economic Cooperation of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Popović, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and International Neutrality Day.

During the talks, a constructive exchange of views took place on key issues of the bilateral agenda, and the level of political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries was reviewed.

It was noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Serbia is developing on the basis of the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutually beneficial partnership.

Among the promising areas of bilateral economic relations identified were trade, the textile and construction industries, exports of polymers and fertilizers, and agricultural products.

With a view to developing trade and economic partnership, the parties considered the possibility of establishing a joint Intergovernmental Commission.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the positive experience of interaction between the two countries on international platforms, in particular within the framework of the United Nations, where they provide mutual support and act as co-authors of significant international initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of continuing the established dialogue in order to diversify and further develop fruitful partnership meeting the mutual interests of the two sides was emphasized.
