The 71st session of the UN General Assembly declares December 12 as International Neutrality Day

The initiative on establishment of this date was uttered by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during high-level International Conference in Turkmen capital on December 12, 2015 dedicated to the 20th anniversary of permanent status of neutrality of Turkmenistan. To implement the initiative, profile UN structures held relative consultations during the last year. As a result, the above-mentioned Resolution that visually indicates high authority of neutral Turkmenistan in the world arena and general recognition of its considerable input into provision of global peace, security and sustainable development was unanimously adopted during the 71th session of the United Nations General Assembly. 
During the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on February 7, the head of the State addressed the people of the country on occasion of the adoption of the Resolution on International Neutrality Day by the UN General Assembly. 
Turkmenistan demonstrates adherence to its international legal status practically proving that the neutrality, peace-loving and good neighbourhood are the bases of its foreign policy, - the Head of the State said.
