THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN HELD ONLINE NEGOTIATIONS WITH A MEMBER OF THE GOVERNMENT OF ST. PETERSBURG

On June 5, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov held online negotiations with the Member of the Government - the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg E. Grigoryev. The Minister of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov also attended the meeting from the Turkmen side.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed issues of bilateral Turkmen-Russian cooperation and the active interaction of our country with the regions of the Russian Federation.

During a working visit of the Minister of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov to St. Petersburg in February this year, the Turkmen delegation got acquainted with the activities of a number of industrial enterprises and construction companies in the region, and a number of bilateral documents were also signed.

As is known, during a visit to Turkmenistan in February this year of a representative delegation led by the Governor of St. Petersburg, a “Protocol Following the Results of Negotiations” was signed, according to which the “Road Map” Action Plan for Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of St. Petersburg of the Russian Federation was approved in the trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural fields for 2020-2025". This document, determines the next steps for the implementation of mutually beneficial partnerships in priority areas of cooperation.

In addition, currently St. Petersburg companies are actively working in Turkmenistan in such significant areas as the design and construction of road transport infrastructure, mudflow facilities, including the development of partnerships in industry, shipbuilding, technology and innovation. During the meeting, the parties identified specific steps to enhance cooperation in the field of transport, construction and construction.

In view of the difficult situations on a global scale, the parties especially noted the need to intensify international scientific cooperation in order to combat the pandemic, and in this context, the President of Turkmenistan announced the initiative to create a Council of medical scientists in order to popularize effective mechanisms for scientific diplomacy.
