A MEETING OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION WITH THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN FOR CONSULAR, BORDER AND CUSTOMS ISSUES BEGAN IN ASHGABAT

On March 12, 2018, the thirteenth session of the joint Turkmen-Iranian intergovernmental commission for consular, border and customs issues began its work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan under the chairmanship of the deputy foreign ministers of the two countries. Leaders and representatives of the relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies took part in its work.

The participants of the meeting analyzed the implementation of the decisions of the twelfth meeting of the commission and noted that a significant part of the decisions had been implemented.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and stressed the need for strict implementation of all reached agreements.

The parties also noted the importance of developing the border and customs infrastructure with the aim of increasing the volume of trade between the two countries, as well as the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. In addition, the sides noted the need to exchange information on combating smuggling and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs as well as combating  general threats and challenges.

On March 13, the thirteenth meeting of the joint Turkmen-Iranian intergovernmental commission for consular, border and customs issues will continue its work.
