The full use of all sports opportunities to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the introduction of new foreign policy initiatives in the future, based on active directions of international sport cooperation, take a special place in the foreign policy conducted by the President of Turkmenistan.

As is known, on the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan on April 12, 2018, the Resolution "World Bicycle Day" was adopted at the 82nd plenary meeting of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. The 56 states of the world were co-authors of this resolution.

In this connection, on June 3, 2018 for the first time in Turkmenistan, with the participation of the head of state, as well as thousands of residents of the capital and all velayats of the country, foreign guests and fans of cycling massive bicycle races were held in a solemn atmosphere.

This noteworthy date was marked not only in Turkmenistan, but also in many countries of the world where on June 3 diplomatic missions and consulates of Turkmenistan abroad initiated mass bicycle rides in the capitals and other cities of Azerbaijan, Austria, Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran, The Russian Federation, Romania, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the People's Republic of China, Germany, Malaysia, the United States of America, Switzerland and Italy.

More than two thousand people took part in these bike rides, including Turkmen and foreign diplomats, heads of public, sports organizations, youth, including Turkmen students studying in foreign higher educational institutions.

The declaration of June 3 as the World Bicycle Day was the evidence of unanimous recognition of the initiatives of our state aimed at the consolidation of peace, friendship and fruitful cooperation. This historical event is another evidence of growing international authority of Turkmenistan and its commitment to the principles of peace-loving, humanity and efficient cooperation.
