The President of Turkmenistan received the First Vice President of Iran

On August 5, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Aref, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, the guest congratulated on the successful holding of the International Forum and, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm words of greeting from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

Having warmly greeted the Vice President of Iran, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes in return to the head of the friendly country.

As was emphasized, cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been consistently developing all these years on the basis of the principles of good-neighborliness, friendship, brotherhood and equality, both on a bilateral and multilateral basis, within the framework of major international organizations and authoritative regional structures.

In this context, the established, effective and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries in such sectors as trade and economics, fuel and energy, transport and communications, construction and agriculture, as well as the intensification of dialogue within the private sector, was noted.

It is generally agreed that interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere plays an important role in the steady strengthening of interstate relations, the rapprochement of the Turkmen and Iranian peoples and the mutual enrichment of their cultures.

Noting the existing significant opportunities for further expansion of cooperation between our countries in the fields of science, education, culture, art and sports, the head of state confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to continue to put forward and support initiatives aimed at the benefit of the two countries and their fraternal peoples.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Aref exchanged mutual good wishes and expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate relations based on the principles of friendship and good neighborliness.
