Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea met with Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the event
On September 4, 2025, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea Begench Durdyyev attended the “Dialogue with Ambassadors KNDA 2025” held at the National Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Korea (KNDA). The event was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Cho Hyun, the Chancellor of the Academy, as well as heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Seoul.
The aim of the event was to brief foreign diplomatic representatives on the foreign policy directions and plans to be implemented by the new Government of the Republic of Korea.
In his address, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun emphasized that President Lee Jae-myung has been implementing an active and pragmatic foreign policy since assuming office. He noted that the President has already hold bilateral talks with more than 18 world leaders. Furthermore, the Minister informed that this year the Republic of Korea is chairing three bodies of the United Nations: the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and the Human Rights Committee.
Minister Cho also outlined the key priorities of Korea’s foreign policy, including promoting stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula, advancing international initiatives related to the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change, as well as expanding cultural diplomacy. He further introduced participants about preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, scheduled to take place in Gyeongju at the end of October 2025, and asked to provide support of diplomatic missions to ensure its success.
On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador B. Durdyyev held a brief conversation with Minister Cho Hyun. The parties exchanged views on the outcomes of the telephone conversation held between the Presidents of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea on August 29, 2025. Ambassador Durdyyev expressed gratitude for the assistance provided in organizing the phone call between the two Heads of State and reaffirmed his readiness to work closely with the Korean side to further strengthen mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
