Seoul hosted the Turkmenistan-Korea Business seminar on gas projects and investment opportunities in Turkmenistan

On June 21, 2016 a business forum named “Turkmenistan - Korea: Business Seminar on Gas projects and Investment opportunities in Turkmenistan» was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

From Korean side the business seminar was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Association of real estate developers, the Korean Bank of Foreign Economic Activities, Korean Trade Insurance Corporation, as well as heads and experts from about 40 leading Korean companies.

At the beginning of the event Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Korea Mr. Kang Min Ho addressed to the participants of the forum with a welcoming speech, and stressed the interest of Korean companies in entering the promising Turkmen market, particularly in the oil and gas sector of the country. Then, the Director-General for Trade Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea Mr. Kang Myung-soo addressed with a welcoming speech to the participants.

Furthermore, presentations were made by representatives of the delegation of Turkmenistan, in particular, of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activities of Turkmenistan, representatives of  "Turkmengaz" in the international board of directors of the consortium "TAPI Pipeline Company Limited".

The participants were thoroughly familiarized with the international project TAPI and the major know-how for investment in strategic projects for the modernization of Turkmenistan’s economy. A video presentation of the modern development of the gas industry of Turkmenistan was also shown during the work of the seminar.

Within the framework of the business forum the Turkmen delegation had bilateral meetings with the leaders of leading companies in Korea, where prospects of cooperation and plans for further cooperation have been discussed.
