On June 29, 2025, a briefing dedicated to the international humanitarian activities of Turkmenistan was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The briefing was attended by the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Ashgabat, as well as representatives of domestic media.
The event provided an overview of Turkmenistan's humanitarian activities, which are implemented based on the principles of openness, mutual support, and trust, in line with the spirit of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, emphasized the key aspects of Turkmenistan's humanitarian activities, which are carried out in close cooperation with foreign states and international organizations.
It was specifically noted that one of the priority vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov, and currently successfully implemented by President Serdar Berdymukhammedov, is the development of international humanitarian cooperation.
During the briefing, it was particularly emphasized that, in accordance with universally recognized norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, Turkmenistan is undertaking all necessary actions aimed at embodying the high ideals of humanism and solidarity. This is based on the ancient traditions of the Turkmen people, including principles of friendship, brotherhood, and good neighborliness.
The briefing highlighted that the country is a member of 54 international organizations and humanitarian programs, including multilateral agreements on international humanitarian law. It was noted that, as a neutral state, Turkmenistan is ready to actively participate in the resolution of complex situations.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the participants about Turkmenistan's efforts to address a number of humanitarian issues related to the recent situation in the Middle East region.
It was noted that the humanitarian corridor created by Turkmenistan for the return of citizens to their countries has been used by 4,678 individuals from 52 countries.
The briefing also featured speeches from ambassadors and representatives of the embassies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Malaysia, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of India, the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, remarks were heard from the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, the Ambassador of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Beata Peks, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCPDCA), Kaha Imnadze.
All speeches expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, for facilitating the departure of foreign nationals from the neighboring state during the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
Turkmenistan's exemplary approach to humanitarian issues was highly praised. The participants expressed support for continuing such constructive cooperation to further strengthen stability in the region and beyond.
Those who spoke at the briefing congratulated Hero-Arkadag on his birthday, wishing him good health, prosperity, and success in his responsible activities.
Summing up the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the Turkmen side's interest in the further development of humanitarian cooperation based on mutual respect, trust, and support.
