Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea Held in Seoul

On April 9, 2026, political consultations between the foreign policy agencies of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea took place in Seoul.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, and the Korean side was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Ms. Eui-hae Cecilia Chung.

During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of dynamically developing interstate relations, noting that Summit and high-level contacts, as well as regularly held consultations between the foreign policy agencies, serve as an important factor in advancing bilateral ties.

The parties reviewed a broad range of issues in the context of further developing political and diplomatic relations, expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, and strengthening the legal framework.

Matters related to the development of trade and economic partnerships were discussed, including cooperation in the fields of energy, industrial construction, shipbuilding, water management, transport and infrastructure, as well as environmental protection.

In underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts to broaden economic engagement, the parties acknowledged the significant role played by the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and the Joint Turkmen-Korean Business Council.

The parties also exchanged views on pressing regional and international agenda items, reaffirming their commitment to continuing constructive engagement both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including science, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sports.

An exchange of views on current regional and international issues also took place.

At the conclusion of the consultations, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in the further development and deepening of the Turkmen-Korean partnership.
