Turkmenistan to Chair the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries in 2027–2028

On 24 September 2026, at the 25th Annual Ministerial Meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries, Turkmenistan welcomed the endorsement of its candidacy to serve as Chair of the Group for the 2027–2028 term.

The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of the practical implementation of the Awaza Programme of Action, with a focus on sustainable transport, enhanced connectivity and investment promotion. As incoming Chair, Turkmenistan intends to develop a roadmap in consultation with the member states of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries and the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS).
