The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with the President of the EBRD

On February 25, 2026, in the afternoon, a meeting took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues related to expanding financial and investment cooperation and implementing joint projects. Minister R. Meredov noted that in pursuing its economic development strategy, Turkmenistan attaches special importance to strengthening international partnership, including intensifying cooperation with reputable financial institutions and credit and banking structures. In this regard, the effective nature of the country’s long-standing cooperation with the EBRD was emphasized.

The President of the Bank confirmed the interest of the institution she heads in further expanding mutually beneficial contacts. Special attention was given to the implementation of projects aimed at forming the East-West international transport corridor. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to consider specific proposals from the EBRD regarding participation in initiatives in this area.

Among the priorities, the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector was also identified. In this context, the broad opportunities for EBRD participation in ongoing sustainable energy projects were noted.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the continued progressive development of bilateral cooperation and exchanged best wishes.
