Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan meets with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative

On 21 July 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kaha Imnadze.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia.

The interlocutors emphasized the importance of the Regional Centre as a unique platform for promoting preventive diplomacy, strengthening regional security and fostering confidence and mutual understanding among the Central Asian states. Particular attention was paid to further enhancing regional cooperation, promoting a culture of peace and dialogue and jointly implementing initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security and sustainable development in the region.

The participants also exchanged views on the preparation and organization of upcoming joint events, as well as cooperation within the framework of regional programmes and projects implemented under the auspices of the United Nations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence in the continued progressive development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
