Meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On October 8, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone. President Tokayev had arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in high-level events.
The Head of State warmly welcomed his Kazakh counterpart, thanking him for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan to participate in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, and the Caspian Environmental Summit.
Expressing appreciation for the hospitality extended, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the great significance of the major event held in Turkmenistan, which was dedicated to pressing issues of interregional cooperation. Heartily congratulating President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on the successful hosting of the current Summit, the Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking this opportunity, also conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Hero-Arkadag.
As the meeting continued, it was noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan maintain steady and multifaceted interaction on issues of the regional and international agenda. The mutual support for the initiatives and proposals of the two countries within the framework of the UN, OSCE, ECO, and other international and regional organizations serves as an important vector of the interstate partnership.
Taking this opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to the Kazakh side for their unwavering support of Turkmenistan's foreign policy course, which is based on the principles of positive neutrality.
The Head of State also noted that he warmly recalls his visit to the city of Astana in April of this year to participate in the Regional Environmental Summit and the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea. Thanking President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the hospitality extended, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his conviction that the meetings provided a stimulus for the further development of Turkmen-Kazakh relations.
One of the main areas of bilateral interaction is the trade and economic partnership, which covers such strategically important sectors as energy, transport, and logistics.
The Head of Turkmenistan also noted that humanitarian cooperation, including fields such as culture, science, and education, is an integral part of the interstate dialogue. In this context, confidence was expressed that cultural exchanges between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will continue to expand.
