A MEETING WITH THE GOVERNOR OF ST. PETERSBURG OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION WAS HELD AT THE MFA OF TURKMENISTAN

On September 26, 2022, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the active development of relations between Turkmenistan and the regions of the Russian Federation in all relevant areas of cooperation. In particular, regular meetings at the highest and high levels were noted, which are an important link in strengthening Turkmen-Russian relations.

The parties spoke about the high level of trade and economic ties, including the constructive participation of Russian companies in a number of projects on the territory of Turkmenistan. Current and prospective infrastructure and road construction projects were considered. Cooperation in the areas of shipbuilding, urban planning and industry was discussed. The prospects for cooperation in the energy sector were also considered.

The readiness to consider opportunities for increasing the volume of mutual trade in food, agricultural, engineering, textile and other products, including through the wide involvement of commercial structures, was voiced. In this context, the parties considered the possibility of creating a trading house of St. Petersburg in Ashgabat.

In addition, cooperation in the field of education and culture was discussed. The parties expressed interest in intensifying partnership in the field of secondary special and higher education.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the commitment of the two countries to further strengthening bilateral ties and expressed hope for the continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas.
