SEVENTH MEETING OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL TURKMEN-ROMANIAN COMMISSION FOR ECONOMIC AND SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL COOPERATION

On April 16, 2018, the seventh meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Romanian Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation was held in Ashgabat.

The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of leading ministries and industry departments of the two states. The co-chairman of the commission from the Romanian side was the Minister of Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Romania Stefan Radu Oprea.

At the beginning of the meeting, the parties gave an overall assessment of the implementation of the decisions of the sixth meeting of the commission and noted that to implement these decisions, relevant departments of the two countries have done a good job.

During the talks, issues of developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation were considered. In this regard, the parties analyzed the opportunities for trade and noted the need to increase the volume of exports and imports between the two countries. The sides also discussed the priority areas of cooperation in energy, oil and gas, transport, agriculture, light industry and high technologies.

The parties expressed their intentions in deepening relations in the cultural and humanitarian area and developing cooperation in science, culture, education and tourism.

As a result of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Romanian Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, a protocol was signed and priority areas for cooperation for the forthcoming period were identified.
