A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE KOREA TIMES WAS HELD AT THE EMBASSY OF TURKMENISTAN

On January 31, 2024, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea H.E. Mr. Begench Durdyyev held a meeting with the President and the Publisher of "The Korea Times" newspaper Mr. Oh Young-jin, during which the Sides exchanged their views on the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, including the activation of further cooperation in the field of mass media.

During the talks, Ambassador of Turkmenistan familiarized the head of "The Korea Times" with the main directions of Turkmenistan's foreign and domestic policy, with a special emphasis on information policy of the country. Furthermore, Ambassador of Turkmenistan expressed his commitment to strengthening international cooperation in the exchange of news and information materials on important events taking place in Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, Ambassador Durdyyev noted that the year 2024 in Turkmenistan was declared as the year of “Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi”, within the framework of which various events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker are being organized in Turkmenistan and all over the world. It was further emphasized that the declaration of 2024 by TURKSOY as the "Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World - Magtymguly Fragi", as well as the inclusion of the Day of Celebration of the 300th Anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi in the list of UNESCO observances, jointly celebrated in 2024–2025, reconfirm the international recognition of the works of the classic poet and philosopher, which occupy an important place in the treasury of world literature.

The head of one of the leading publications of the Republic of Korea was also informed that this year the ancient Turkmen city of Anew was declared as the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
