A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the regional representative of UNODC

On June 11, 2024, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ashita Mittal.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNODC within the framework of projects of this organization and relevant regional and international instruments for preventing and combating drug trafficking.
Emphasizing the importance of the 9th annual interregional meeting of heads of customs services taking place these days within the framework of the UNODC initiative “Groups for Profiling Passengers and Cargo at the Border,” the parties noted that the current meeting will play an important role in strengthening global and regional customs cooperation and border security .
The parties also agreed to organize a joint event in the context of the proclamation by the UN General Assembly, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
