The President of Turkmenistan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan

On March 27, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, who arrived in our country to participate in the regular meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of Central Asia and the European Union.
Having expressed sincere gratitude to the head of state for the time spent and the warm welcome, the guest conveyed to the President of Turkmenistan and Hero Arkadag cordial greetings and best wishes from President Emomali Rahmon. Taking the opportunity, the head of the foreign ministry of the friendly country congratulated the head of state on the International Day of Novruz and noted that Tajikistan is interested in building up partnership with Turkmenistan, with which it shares common historical and cultural roots dating back thousands of years.
Having welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly state on the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes in return to the leader of the fraternal country. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that the results of the current visit to Turkmenistan of the head of the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan and participation in the 20th ministerial meeting of representatives of the European Union and Central Asian countries, dedicated to preparations for the first summit "Central Asia-European Union", will contribute to strengthening interstate relations.
As part of the subsequent exchange of views on the current state and prospects of partnership between the two countries, the head of state and Sirojiddin Mukhriddin noted with satisfaction that today friendly and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan are long-term and strategic in nature.
Currently, our countries cooperate not only in a bilateral format, but also within the framework of authoritative regional and international organizations, such as the UN, OIC, CIS, SCO, ECO. At the same time, it was noted that a significant factor in the development of partnership is the trusting relationship that has developed between the leaders of the two states, as well as the results of meetings and negotiations at the highest level, which have become regular.
During the meeting, the diplomat emphasized the importance of the international legal status of permanent neutrality, the 30th anniversary of which is celebrated this year. Congratulating President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the third Resolution on the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, the head of the foreign policy department of the fraternal country confirmed the readiness of Tajikistan, which is a co-sponsor of these resolutions, to participate in international events scheduled for this year on the occasion of the significant date, as well as to continue to support the constructive initiatives of the Turkmen state.
One of the topics of discussion was trade and economic relations. In this regard, the existing great opportunities were discussed, especially in terms of implementing major projects in the field of trade, fuel and energy complex, transport and communications sector.
Among the equally important areas of interstate cooperation was the cultural and humanitarian sphere, where partnership in education, healthcare, science and culture occupies a special place. In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the grand opening of the comprehensive secondary school named after Makhtumkuli in the Dusti district of the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan is a symbol of friendship and brotherhood of our peoples. Along with this, the importance of the visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Turkmenistan to participate in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fragi was emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, expressing confidence that interstate cooperation, based on strong ties of friendship and mutual goodwill, will continue to dynamically strengthen, filling with new concrete content, addressed wishes of progress and prosperity to the peoples of the two countries.
