A meeting with the IOM regional coordinator for Central Asia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On April 2, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Central Asia Serhan Aktoprak at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Turkmenistan congratulated the guest on his appointment to the new position and expressed hope for the continuation of a fruitful partnership.

An exchange of views took place on new areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and IOM and joint tasks for further expansion of cooperation were outlined.

It was noted that issues of ensuring the rights of refugees and stateless persons, combating human trafficking are considered as priority areas of partnership.

The parties noted the importance of implementing international norms on migration management in national legislation and the effective implementation of migration legislation in practice.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors expressed mutual interest in further expanding cooperation.
