Turkmenistan Delegation Participated in the 48th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan

On July 26-29, a Turkmenistan delegation consisting of Mrs. Chinar Rustamova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and H.E. Mr. Begench Durdyyev, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, is taking part in the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in Busan, Republic of Korea.
This is the largest international event dedicated to world heritage. Every year, the Committee brings together representatives of the 196 States Parties to the World Heritage Convention to discuss how to protect our shared global heritage and pass it on, intact, to future generations.
On the sidelines of the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in Busan, Republic of Korea, a meeting took place between Mrs. Chinar Rustamova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, and Ambassador Mustafa Yurdakul, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Türkiye to UNESCO.
The Turkmen side congratulated Ambassador Yurdakul on his election as Chairman of the 49th session of the World Heritage Committee, to be held in Istanbul from 27 June to 7 July 2027, and wished him success on this responsible post.
During the meeting, the sides noted the importance of further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Türkiye in the field of preservation and promotion of cultural and natural heritage, including within the framework of the World Heritage Convention. The Turkmen side reaffirmed its readiness for continued constructive engagement with the Turkish side in the run-up to the 49th session in Istanbul.
Turkmenistan will continue to develop cooperation with UNESCO across all areas of shared interest, including the preservation of cultural and natural heritage, and reaffirms its commitment to the goals and principles of the World Heritage Convention.
