A MEETING OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL TURKMEN-KYRGYZ COMMISSION ON TRADE-ECONOMIC, SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL AND HUMANITARIAN COOPERATION WAS HELD IN BISHKEK
On September 16, 2019, the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation was held in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of state and business structures of the two countries. At the beginning of the meeting, the parties reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached during the third meeting of the Commission and noted the positive nature of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
The parties spoke about strengthening the legal framework and discussed the possibility of expanding partnerships, in particular in the field of textile industry and agriculture. Particular attention was paid to energy and transport. The need was noted for the exchange of experience between specialists from the public and private sectors of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the organization of joint business forums and events.
Also, the meeting participants noted the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. The possibilities of establishing interuniversity relations between higher education institutions of the two countries, including the development of scientific and technical projects, were examined. The parties also noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of sports and tourism.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Kyrgyz commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian cooperation was signed.
Also, as part of the working visit, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, together with the Kyrgyz side, organized a business dialogue with the participation of representatives of companies from Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, during which issues of prospects for enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation were discussed.
