TRADE UNIONS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE ILO: THE PRIOROTITIES OF COOPERATION FOR FUTURE

Presently, the 337th session of the Administrative Council of the International Labour Bureau is taking place in Geneva where the issues of institutional nature, policy development, as well as the legal, financial and administrative matters are being considered in particular.        

The main theme of the discussions will encompass the issues related to the agenda of the forthcoming sessions of the International Conference of Labour, as well as the actions following the results of the 108th Anniversary Session of the International Conference of Labour.

The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Chair of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan is on the visit to Geneva to attend the work of the current session of the Administrative Council of the International Labour Bureau in the capacity of an observer.  

In the framework of the visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan that has arrived to Geneva upon the invitation of the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) has met with the Director of the Bureau for Workers’ Activities to discuss the priorities of cooperation with Turkmenistan for 2020-2021. 

Currently, the ACTRAV Bureau is preparing the working plan with the trade unions for the stated period, including the actions required to carry out the resolutions of the 108th session of the ILO.  The Central Asian region is among the priorities of the ILO, and the discussions with the delegation of Turkmenistan focused on the development of joint educational programmes and events between the ILO and the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan for 2020-2021.       

More meetings with the executives and representatives of various ILO branches are planned to take place during the visit, including the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia.
