A MEETING DEDICATED TO THE NATIONAL ACTION PLAN OF TURKMENISTAN ON COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS WAS HELD AT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN

On December 13, 2019, a meeting was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the approval of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2020-2022. As it is known, the corresponding Resolution was signed on December 6 this year by the President of Turkmenistan during an extended meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by the heads and representatives of several ministries and departments of Turkmenistan, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Finance and Economics, Health and Medical Industry, Education, the State Committee on Statistics, and public organizations. The event was also attended by the Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia, the head of representative offices in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Z. Hajiyev, and the Permanent Representatives of Turkmenistan to the United Nations (New York) and the UN Geneva and Vienna offices.

The overall goal of the meeting was to discuss the next steps to implement the tasks arising from the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings for 2020-2022. The issues of preventing the danger of trafficking in human beings by raising awareness and training of the population were sseparately discussed. The meeting participants also exchanged views on the issues of international cooperation in this area by improving the interaction between government agencies and public organizations.
