TURKMEN-AFGHAN POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS WERE HELD IN ASHGABAT

On April 22, 2020, the Turkmen-Afghan political consultations were held in a video conference mode in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting was held at the level of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on the regional and international agenda, especially focused on the interaction and mutual assistance of countries in this difficult time for the world community.

Also, the Foreign Ministers of the friendly countries discussed the current situation and the prospect of developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. The importance of the mutual partnership of the two states on an international platform was also noted, especially cooperation within the framework of the reputable regional and international organizations.

The parties also reviewed the current state of trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IRA. In this context, the parties focused on intensifying joint efforts to implement the agreements reached earlier in the field of transport, construction and energy, in particular the TAPI gas pipeline and TAP power lines.
