ASHGABAT HOSTED THE FIRST DIALOGUE OF WOMEN OF THE STATES OF CENTRAL ASIA AND RUSSIA

On May 13, 2022, the first Dialogue of Women of the States of Central Asia and the Russian Federation started its work in Ashgabat. It is attended by representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.

Speaker of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gulshat Mammedova, Chairman of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia German, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan addressed the participants of the forum.

During their speeches, representatives of the states of Central Asia and Russia noted the particular importance of the ongoing Dialogue in the context of strengthening regional cooperation in the implementation of the global agenda "Women, Peace and Security", as well as the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, stressed the importance of exchanging views on gender policy and the role women in various sectors of the economy.

After the plenary session is over, the participants will visit an exhibition dedicated to the Dialogue of the States of Central Asia and Russia.
