Conference dedicated to the tourism potential of the Central Asian countries held in Seoul
On April 23, 2025, a conference dedicated to promotion of the tourism potential of Central Asian countries was held at the office of the "Central Asia-Korea" Cooperation Forum Secretariat. The event was attended by Ambassadors of Central Asian countries accredited in the Republic of Korea, the Executive Director of the "Central Asia-Korea" Cooperation Forum Secretariat and its members, representatives of tourism companies, professors and scholars, media, and cultural associations.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, B.Durdyyev, delivered a speech emphasizing Turkmenistan's vast tourism potential. He highlighted Turkmenistan's historical and cultural richness, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Ancient Merv, Kunya-Urgench, and the Parthian Fortresses of Nisa. He also mentioned significant tourism projects such as the Avaza resort on the Caspian Sea, the Arkadag smart city, and the upcoming direct flights between Ashgabat and Seoul.
Special attention was also drawn to the high-level events to be held in our country on the occasion of the declaration of 2025 as the "Year of International Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, including exhibitions and conferences related to the tourism sector.
During the event Ambassador Durdyyev also introduced books authored by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov entitled “Anau – Culture Originated from the Millennia,” and by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov entitled “Turkmenistan is the Heart of the Great Silk Road” and conveyed them as a gift to the Executive Director, expressing hope that they would serve as valuable resources for further research at the Library of the Secretariat.
Additionally, books by the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, were showcased alongside other cultural items at the event. Guests enjoyed traditional Turkmen sweets and snacks provided during the gathering.
