Delegation from Turkmenistan attends High-Level GGGI meetings in the Republic of Korea

A delegation from Turkmenistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Environment Protection of Turkmenistan Mr. Ovezgeldi Goshjanov, visited the Republic of Korea from 29 to 31 October 2025 to participate in several official events, organized within the framework of the Green Growth week, consisting of 14th Session of the Assembly and the 18th Session of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute, held at the Institute’s headquarters in Seoul. The participants engaged in high-level discussions on sustainable development, climate action, and environmental protection.

The bilateral meeting of Mr. Deputy Minister of Environment Protection of Turkmenistan Mr. Ovezgeldi Goshjanov with His Excellency Mr. Ban Ki-moon, President and Chair of the GGGI and 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations was organized on the sidelines of the event. During the meeting H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon requested the head of the Turkmen delegation to convey his best regards and warm wishes to H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, while emphasizing the importance of holding of the high-level International Forum, dedicated to the International Year of Neutrality, 30th Anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan on December 12, 2025 in Ashgabat during the year of celebrating of the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of the UN.

On the second day the head of Turkmen delegation met with H.E. Mr. Chung Keeyong, the Ambassador and the Deputy Minister for Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. During the meeting, the Deputy Minister O.Goshjanov highlighted Turkmenistan’s ongoing efforts to maintain ecological balance, reduce industrial environmental impact, and promote the adoption of clean technologies and renewable energy sources.

In the framework of the working visit to the Republic of Korea, the Turkmen delegation also participated in the 12th Green Roundtable at the Global Green Growth Institute, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
