Turkmenistan and Italy are committed to developing multifaceted relations

On January 14, 2025, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Edmondo Cirielli, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the diplomats noted the importance of bilateral political dialogue. They discussed the prospects for developing relations between Turkmenistan and Italy in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

It was noted that contacts at the highest and high levels play an important role in promoting bilateral ties.

The parties also discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of international organizations and in the Central Asia-Italy format. They emphasized the positive experience of cooperation on the UN sidelines. The importance of mutual support for international initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and sustainable development was noted.

The parties expressed confidence in continuing a fruitful partnership in all areas of mutual interest.

On the same day, Turkmen-Italian political consultations were held.

The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, and the Italian side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli.

During the talks, the parties discussed the state and prospects of Turkmen-Italian cooperation. Along with this, an exchange of views took place on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The interlocutors considered issues of holding joint events within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The diplomats noted the great opportunities for expanding trade and economic cooperation. In this regard, the relevance of holding meetings and forums between representatives of business circles was emphasized.

The importance of strengthening interstate cooperation in the fields of archeology, education and culture was noted.

The parties confirmed their mutual intention to intensify political dialogue and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.
