National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag met with the President of the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar

On April 2, 2025, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani.

After warmly greeting each other, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani exchanged congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Fitr.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet in person, the guest conveyed greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, as well as wishes for success and prosperity from the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Expressing his best wishes to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Hero-Arkadag noted that he warmly recalls his recent telephone conversation with the head of the friendly state.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people also expressed confidence that the visit of Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani to our country will give a new impetus to the activation and development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar in the field of sports.

As was noted during the meeting, Turkmenistan takes an active part in international sports cooperation and in the Olympic movement, has extensive experience in successfully holding world-class competitions. A clear example of this are the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Ashgabat in 2017.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to partnership with international specialized organizations in this important area. The creation of appropriate modern infrastructure, provision of favorable conditions for athletes, holding international competitions are the key vectors of Turkmenistan's sports policy.

Noting that today's meeting will be an important step in taking sports cooperation to a new level and will contribute to the development of the Olympic movement, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed confidence that the visit of the President of the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar to our country will give impetus to further cooperation in this area and the promotion of new initiatives.

During the meeting, Hero-Arkadag highly appreciated Qatar's achievements in the development of sports, confirming Turkmenistan's readiness to expand partnership in this area. Taking this opportunity, the National Leader of the Turkmen people invited the Qatari side to take part in the international forum to be held in Ashgabat on December 12 in honor of the significant date - the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of the Fatherland.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan also expressed gratitude to Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani for his great personal contribution to enhancing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Olympic Committee of the State of Qatar and for supporting our country's initiatives in this area.
