A meeting was held with the Special Representative of Finland to the OSCE
On September 8, 2025, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Special Representative of Finland to the OSCE Teri Hakala.
At the beginning of the meeting, R. Meredov expressed gratitude to Ms. Teri Hakala for her personal contribution to the development of a constructive partnership and emphasized Finland’s role in enhancing the effectiveness of the OSCE.
During the talks, the sides discussed the long-term fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE in the political, economic, environmental and humanitarian dimensions. The importance of the projects and programs implemented in these areas was noted.
It was noted that in recent years, Turkmenistan's ties with such OSCE institutions as the Parliamentary Assembly, the Office of the High Commissioner on National Minorities, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, and the Representative on Freedom of the Media have noticeably intensified.

In this context, the interlocutors agreed that the priorities of the Finnish OSCE chairmanship this year, aimed at strengthening dialogue and trust, are in line with the neutral foreign policy of Turkmenistan and its international initiatives, including the proclamation of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The parties emphasized the relevance of coordinating common efforts to ensure security, energy development, and transport connectivity. Along with this, the need to continue exchanging experience in the field of human rights protection, interaction to strengthen democratic institutions and the rule of law was noted.
