Visit of the Turkmen delegation led by the vice president for medical affairs of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship to the State of Qatar

A Turkmen delegation headed by Oguljahan Atabaeva, vice president for medical affairs of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, paid a visit to the State of Qatar.

As part of the visit, Oguljahan Atabaeva took part in the opening ceremony of the Doha Forum, held under the theme “Diplomacy, dialogue, diversity”.

The vice president also met with the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned.

Warmly welcoming Oguljahan Atabaeva and expressing sincere appreciation for her participation in the forum, Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned voiced confidence that the visit would further strengthen humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to take part in the Doha Forum and for the hospitality extended, Oguljahan Atabaeva expressed confidence that the forum would make a significant contribution to global peace, sustainable development, and the well-being of humanity.

Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned highly praised the work of the Charitable Foundation named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, particularly its humanitarian initiatives.

During the meeting, Oguljahan Atabaeva emphasized the potential for expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and Qatar in the humanitarian field, paying special attention to matters of health and the upbringing of the younger generation.

The vice president also informed the Qatari side about the upcoming International Conference “The role of women in modern society: developing international cooperation on the path to achieving the sustainable development goals”, to be held on 10 December this year in the National Tourist Zone Awaza, and invited Maryam bint Ali Al-Misned to participate.

Thanking her for the invitation, the Minister of State for International Cooperation expressed confidence that the conference would play an important role in advancing the well-being of women and children.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides exchanged best wishes.

Later, Oguljahan Atabaeva met with the Minister of Social Development and Family of the State of Qatar, Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jaber Al-Nuaymi.

Warmly greeting the vice president, Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jaber Al-Nuaymi praised the dynamically developing relations between Qatar and Turkmenistan.

Expressing appreciation for the opportunity to meet, Oguljahan Atabaeva underlined the importance of cooperation between the two friendly states in various areas, especially humanitarian affairs.

During the meeting, Oguljahan Atabaeva invited Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jaber Al-Nuaymi to take part in the international conference in Awaza on 10 December.

The meeting concluded with mutual wishes for success.

As part of the visit, the Turkmen delegation also visited the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.

Later, Oguljahan Atabaeva participated in the thematic session “Child protection in a new era: developing inclusive humanitarian measures” at the Doha Forum.

In her address, she expressed gratitude for the invitation, the warm hospitality, and the excellent conditions created for productive work, noting the critical importance of the issue under discussion for all humanity.

She emphasized that caring for children and the traditions of their upbringing form an integral part of the ancient and rich heritage of the Turkmen people. Turkmenistan attaches great importance to preserving and developing national family values and to the patriotic and moral education of youth.

Providing inclusive humanitarian assistance is among the pressing challenges of the modern era. Turkmenistan’s state policy in this area aims to ensure accessibility and adaptation of services. The government works to create equal opportunities through access to public resources, including education, economic support, and legal protection. Particular attention is devoted to the harmonious development of the younger generation and the modernization of child-rights legislation in line with contemporary requirements.

The Foundation actively cooperates with similar institutions and leading international organizations, including UNICEF.

Since its establishment four years ago, the Foundation has assisted children affected by natural disasters in various countries. In Turkmenistan, many children in need have received treatment funded by the Foundation.

Concluding her speech, the vice president noted that Turkmenistan, as a neutral state, implements national programs in accordance with its international commitments.

Her speech was received with close attention.

The session continued with a question-and-answer segment.

Asked about the strategic priorities related to children in Turkmenistan, Oguljahan Atabaeva replied that all areas outlined in her address hold strategic significance. She emphasized that maternal and child health, as well as care for the younger generation, are key priorities.

She highlighted the country’s stable commitment to using material and intellectual resources to support the physical and spiritual development of children. Turkmenistan maintains extensive international cooperation, closely collaborating with specialized UN agencies and other international institutions, as well as with countries around the world at bilateral and regional levels.

The moderator then requested more information about the Foundation’s activities and its primary mission.

It was noted that the Foundation was established on 29 March 2021 at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the Hero-Arkadag.

The Foundation’s work is aimed at implementing projects and programs supporting children and creating the necessary conditions for protecting their rights and interests. Oguljahan Atabaeva emphasized that the Foundation plays an active role in carrying out state policy in this field.

During her visit, Oguljahan Atabaeva also met with the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Khater.

Warmly welcoming the Turkmen guest, Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Khater stated that it was an honor to meet Oguljahan Atabaeva to discuss issues vital to the well-being of children and the role of education in their development.

Expressing gratitude for the meeting and the hospitality shown, the vice president noted that Turkmenistan and Qatar maintain fruitful cooperation in all fields, including education.

It was noted that Turkmenistan pays particular attention to the development of education at all levels, with active integration of digital and information-communication technologies.

In this context, Oguljahan Atabaeva stated that the Foundation is open to experience-sharing and other effective initiatives supporting children’s welfare, and invited the Qatari side to participate in the international conference in Awaza on 10 December.

Thanking her for the invitation, Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Khater highly praised the Foundation’s humanitarian activity and expressed confidence that the meeting would mark the beginning of long-term and productive cooperation.

Later, Oguljahan Atabaeva met with the vice chairperson of Qatar Foundation, Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani.

Warmly welcoming Oguljahan Atabaeva, Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani stated that Qatar highly values its friendly and brotherly relations with Turkmenistan and expressed confidence that the visit of the Turkmen delegation would be an important step in advancing these ties.

Oguljahan Atabaeva expressed sincere gratitude for the hospitality and the opportunity to meet.

She praised the educational projects of Qatar Foundation, noting that education and science form the foundation of social development. She stated that the Charitable Foundation is open to proposals and initiatives in this sphere, and invited the Qatari delegation to the international conference in Awaza on 10 December.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation, Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani emphasized that ensuring gender equality is one of the key attributes of a sustainable and progressive society.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to continue constructive dialogue for the benefit of children and exchanged best wishes.

During the visit, the Turkmen delegation also toured Sidra Medical Center in Qatar.
