Opening ceremony of the Second regional training for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian countries
On March 9, 2026, the opening ceremony of the second regional training for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian countries was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan with the support of the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator, as well as the embassies of the Italian Republic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Turkmenistan.
The ceremony was attended by the leadership and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and staff of diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian countries, as well as faculty members and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Participants in the ceremony emphasized that the training is aimed at strengthening cooperation between young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asian countries, facilitating the exchange of experience and knowledge, and consolidating diplomatic efforts to address current regional issues.
Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova noted that Turkmenistan actively participates in multilateral initiatives of the United Nations aimed at promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, expanding humanitarian cooperation, developing transport connectivity, and strengthening the international legal order.
In this context, the current training represents an important educational platform where participants will be able to deepen their knowledge of the institutional structure of the United Nations and the mechanisms of global decision-making. One of the key objectives of the training is the further strengthening of regional cooperation among the states of Central Asia, which has gained significant momentum in recent years.
Special attention during the ceremony was given to the Central Asian Youth Dialogue initiated by Turkmenistan, which has already proven its effectiveness. In this regard, it was noted that the next meeting within the framework of this Dialogue will take place on the sidelines of the current training, which will further strengthen ties of friendship and partnership among the young leaders of the region.
