A telephone conversation took place between the co-chairs of the Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

On April 20, 2026, a telephone conversation was held between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Farzaneh Sadegh.

During the conversation, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the implementation of agreements reached following the 18th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, which took place on May 19–20, 2025, in Tehran. They also reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation.

The parties also emphasized that cultural and humanitarian cooperation remains one of the priority areas of bilateral relations.

The Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Farzaneh Sadegh, expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, for the humanitarian aid sent on March 14, 2026, on behalf of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, primarily children, as a symbol of friendship and brotherly relations between the two countries.
