Meeting of the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Armenia

On May 4, 2026, a meeting was held in Yerevan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Armenian side for the invitation to participate in the respected international forum “Yerevan Dialogue 2026”, scheduled for May 5–6.

During the meeting, the diplomats noted the high level of political-diplomatic cooperation between the two states. It was emphasized that the basis of bilateral collaboration is the regular dialogue at the highest level. The holding of regular inter-ministerial consultations was highlighted as an important tool for partnership.

The sides emphasized their close interaction within international platforms, thus, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Armenian side for supporting Turkmenistan’s foreign policy initiatives put forward within reputable international structures.

Regarding trade and economic cooperation, the participants emphasized the need to activate existing tools to diversify and increase the volumes of mutual trade. In this regard, the coordinating role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Armenian Commission on Economic Cooperation was noted. Readiness was also expressed to create conditions for direct interaction between commercial entities and the private sectors of two countries

As to the cultural-humanitarian partnership, its high level was underlined. To further strengthen the humanitarian ties between the peoples, the Turkmen side proposed holding the next Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Armenia.
