President of Turkmenistan received UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan

On July 20, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the newly appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations to Turkmenistan, Xiaojun Grace Wang, who presented her credentials to the Head of State.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the diplomat noted that it was a great honor for her to meet with the President of Turkmenistan. Emphasizing that under the wise leadership of the Head of State, Turkmenistan is confidently moving along the path of development and transformation, Xiaojun Grace Wang took the opportunity to convey warm greetings and best wishes from the UN Secretary-General António Guterres to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag.

The Head of State congratulated Xiaojun Grace Wang on her appointment as the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, wishing her great success in her responsible diplomatic mission to further develop productive ties between our country and the UN.

The President of the country conveyed return best wishes to the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, emphasizing that Turkmenistan, whose status of permanent neutrality has been recognized three times by the UN, consistently develops relations with the states of the world and authoritative international organizations.

As noted, active cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies is one of the key directions of the foreign policy of neutral Turkmenistan. In this regard, the Head of State noted with satisfaction the consistent and highly effective nature of cooperation between our country and the UN.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the high level of organization of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in the country last year, as well as international events dedicated to the proclamation of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of the Fatherland's permanent neutrality. He emphasized the significant role of the "Turkmenistan – United Nations" Strategic Advisory Council in the cooperation agenda.

The President pointed out that over the years of long-term partnership based on country programs, joint projects aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the country have been successfully implemented and continue to be carried out. Cooperation is currently conducted within the framework of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework between the Government of Turkmenistan and the United Nations for 2026–2030. This document confirms the consistent and long-term nature of our country's relations with the UN, the Head of State concluded, stressing that Turkmenistan highly appreciates the constructive role of the United Nations in addressing pressing issues on the international agenda.

In turn, the diplomat emphasized that it is a great honor for her to represent the United Nations in Turkmenistan, assuring that she will make every effort to further develop the effective partnership.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that Xiaojun Grace Wang will make a significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, as well as to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, and once again wished the diplomat success in her work.
